Travel photography is not the same as making photo's on a vacation. Those photo's are to be shown to family as a proof of 'having been there'. A very good reason to make them. But they seldom show the backside of the reality of far away places. Travel photography aims at showing the reality that is seldom shown to tourists, that is mostly overlooked, that is hidden for the passers by. Travel photography opens the eye of the the looker-on. It shows (often in one picture) both the beauty and the ugliness of the world people live in. Nearby and far away.
